Tallinja card registration fee waived until end of February

The registration fee for new Tallinja cards will be waived until the end of February, the Transport Ministry said on Sunday

This announcement follows a NEWZ report about the price increase of single journey bus tickets and the Tallinja card registration fee on Sunday morning.

However, sources told this website that the waiver announced today was actually set to be communicated by government earlier this week.

People will save €25 (or €15 compared to the previous fee) when registering their personalised Tallinja card within the upcoming weeks. Only a postage fee of €2.87 for local registered delivery applies.

A similar time-limited offer at the beginning of the scholastic year enabled full-time students to apply for a Tallinja Card ‘Student’ for free.

Since October 2022, Tallinja card holders can travel for free on all day and night routes, except for Tallinja Direct (TD) buses.

Free-of-charge Harbour ferry crossings from and to Valletta for Tallinja Card holders were introduced as recently as last Monday.
