Malta’s annual inflation rate in December steady at 3.6%

Malta’s annual rate of inflation in December 2023 remained consistent at 3.6%, the National Statistics Office has reported

The highest rate, 8.7%, was once again recorded in the food category, fuelled by increases in vegetables prices, followed by other goods and services at 6.5%.

Within the food category, food excluding restaurants and take-aways registered an annual rate of 9.2%.

The lowest annual inflation rates were observed in the categories transport and communication (-1.4%) and clothing and footwear (-1.0%).
