Rental e-kick scooters will be banned from Malta’s roads on 1 March 2024, the government announced on Thursday

Malta to ban rental e-kick scooters from March
The ban forms part of a ‘national cycling strategy’ which has not been finalised yet and will be presented in January.
The government said it planned to offer incentives to those acquiring their own e-kick scooters.
This would “promote responsible e-kick scooter usage and reduce inconvenience for communities and people”.
“Despite increased enforcement and fines, communities have continued to endure the disturbances caused by rented e-kick scooters”, the government said.
Last April, Paris became the first European city to ban rental e-scooters after 90 percent of residents opposed keeping them on the streets.
