Police investigate unauthorised ‘pruning’ of Mosta trees

Infrastructure Malta said it has filed a police report following the “heavy and unauthorised pruning of trees” in Mosta’s Vjal l-Indipendenza

The government agency said on Monday it had neither received a request for such works nor had it given any permission.

While residents have voiced their frustration, nobody has so far assumed responsibility for chopping down the trees.

Mosta mayor Joseph Gatt said the council had not been informed in advance and only learned of the pruning in mid-October.

The Mosta council then complained to the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) and to the community police.

Both Infrastructure Malta and Transport Malta, the entities responsible for arterial roads, have denied any involvement.
