Malta is paying €4 million a week to service its national debt, the Nationalist Party criticised on Thursday

Malta pays €4 million a week in interest on national debt – PN
It said that the country’s debt was continuously increasing under Prime Minister Robert Abela.
The PN referred to figures published by the National Statistics Office earlier this week.
By the end of July, Malta’s debt stood at around €9.4 billion, €838.4 million more than in July 2022.
More than a third of the government’s debt has been accumulated under Robert Abela since the end of 2019, the PN said.
The Nationalist Party called on the government to eliminate the “corruption tax” and ensure that public finances remain sustainable.
