Gordon Manché demands further charge against Bis-Serjetà owner

Sect leader Gordon Manché’s criminal ‘online threat’ case against satirist Matt Bonanno has been deferred to March

In a brief court sitting on Monday morning, Manché’s lawyers filed an application to add an additional, unspecified charge to the case.

Manché, leader of the sect ‘River of Love’, had separately pushed for charges against comedian Daniel Xuereb and Teatru Malta’s artistic director Sean Buhagiar.

Bonanno, the owner of satirical news site Bis-Serjetà, has so far been charged with making ‘online threats’ when joking about the group.

In a Facebook comment, Bonanno jokingly suggested the relocation of ‘River of Love’ to Buġibba, “then carpet bomb. Two birds with one stone”.

Magistrate Kevan Azzopardi deferred the case to 15 March 2024.
