DB Group will be able to go ahead with its ‘City Centre’ project at St George’s Bay, after a court threw out an appeal by objectors

Court dismisses appeal against DB Group’s monstrous ‘City Centre’
Chief Justice Mark Chetcuti handed down his decision on Wednesday morning, ruling against local councils and NGOs in a court challenge to the development.
The court concluded that the appeal was based on planning issues, which were not points of law but had been addressed by the PA’s appeals tribunal.
This decision means that the project’s planning permit stands and the company can proceed with excavating the site and developing three towers of up to 17 floors.
The appeal was filed against DB, the ERA and the PA after Environment and Planning Review Tribunal had rejected the objectors’ concerns in December 2021.
Pembroke residents and environmental NGOs have long campaigned against the project, which was first proposed in 2017.
