Who or what caused these expressions in Roberta Metsola’s face?

Orbán? Putin? Alex Agius Saliba? Whoever called the European Parliament President at 10:53 owes us an explanation

During the voting process on Tuesday morning, European Parliament’s television cameras captured Roberta Metsola having a weird moment on her phone.

When taking a call minutes before 11am, Metsola’s sudden change of expression indicates the president wanted to show off that she was dealing with an unpleasant caller or issue.

Commenters in social media jokingly suggested it was Alex Agius Saliba telling Metsola he would not cast his vote in the election of the President of the European Parliament.

Agius Saliba, together with fellow Labour MEP Daniel Attard, abstained when the vote took place in the Strasbourg plenary this morning, despite both being present.

NEWZ.mt reached out to Nigel Mifsud, the president’s spokesperson, asking about further information about the received call – if unclassified. Mifsud promptly promised to check and is yet to get back to us.

A viewer told this newsroom that Metsola apparently did not have her member tag on her and therefore was not allowed to vote until she presented it. They believe the call she received was about resolving this issue.
