It appears that the Mosta Local Council has decided to brighten up the experience of birds roosting in potted trees that were specifically brought in for this purpose

BirdLife Malta CEO Mark Sultana criticised the local council on Friday evening for ‘decorating’ the trees with lights, which will scare away the birds.

They had already been displaced when 12 decades-old ficus trees had been ‘butchered’ on the instructions of the local council.

“Today we know this was a big lie”, Independent politician Arnold Cassola commented in social media, referring to the potted trees having been put there for the birds.
