WATCH | Police commissioner: ‘Contract renewal recommended’

Angelo Gafà confirms that the permanent secretary recommends the renewal of his contract as Commissioner of Police

Asked whether Gafà could confirm that his contract has been extended, the commissioner felt the need to point out that “I am not the one who takes that decision”.

“My first term expired and the information I have at hand suggests my contract is in the process of being renewed”, he continued.

When asked for clarification, Gafà specified that he had received an email from the permanent secretary [of the home affairs ministry, Joyce Dimech] who recommended that his contract is to be renewed.
