PN to support Abela if he files case to retrieve €400m hospitals deal loss

The PN will give its full support to Robert Abela if the government files a court case to get back the €400 million lost in the hospitals deal

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said the PN had provided the government with the best “weapon” when a court annulled the “fraudulent” hospitals deal in a case instituted by Adrian Delia.

Grech said on Monday that the government now wants to be part of the Nationalist Party’s case against the State Advocate.

However, Grech said the PN explained why the case needed to be opened without interference from the Labour Party and the government.

Prime Minister Robert Abela said the Nationalist Party wanted to use the power of the courts to put pressure and try to control the actions of the Police Commissioner, the Attorney General, the State Advocate, the Cabinet of Ministers and the government.

He said the PN was “trying to run the government as the Opposition in the minority” and that the party did not believe in the basic principles of democracy.
