PN MP Alex Borg says ‘Manuel Delia is not the PN’

Nationalist MP Alex Borg has called out activist Manuel Delia for describing former PN MP Franco Debono as ‘a re-emerging tumour’

Borg, a friend of Debono and supporter of the ex MP’s comeback to the party, said Manuel Delia was a “small man dangerously posing as a pseudo-intellectual”.

Referring to recent developments, Delia wrote in his blog manueldelia.com on Monday that Franco Debono is on the agenda again:

“He comes back like a re-emerging tumour, for some time too small for scans, and before you know it too big to carry”, Delia said.

Gozitan PN MP Alex Borg said that Delia’s words were hateful, and that “Manuel Delia doesn’t know what a tumour is”.

He went on to describe the activist as “a small man dangerously posing as a pseudo-intellectual” and “an agent of division”, and said Delia “is not the PN”.

Franco Debono similarly stated on Facebook that Delia’s words amounted to ‘hate speech’ and that he would not be intimidated by him.

Debono also said that since Daphne Caruana Galizia opened her blog “the PN never won an election”, a “tradition of hate blogs” which was “continued by Manuel Delia”.

Delia reacts

“I could have used some other metaphor to describe Franco Debono’s periodic returns to the public scene”, but metaphors were unnecessary as Franco Debono spoke for himself, Manuel Delia said in a reaction.

“This man, ostensibly offended by a comparison I made, finds this as the right time to blame for my opinion of him a woman who has been dead 6 years”, Delia said.
