Labour president Ramona Attard won’t seek re-election

Ramona Attard, the president of the Labour party, announced she will not seek re-election or run for any other leadership position

Having held the position for four years, Attard announced this move in a video message published on Facebook on Monday morning.

Attard said she was “ready for a different challenge”, adding she would continue to work for the party and stay present “as I have been in previous years”.

Her departure is the latest in an exodus of high-ranking Labour officials from the party’s helm.

Daniel Micallef, who served as deputy leader for party affairs, stepped down days after the European Parliament and Local Council elections.

Randolph De Battista, MP and then Labour CEO, was kicked upstairs by accepting Prime Minister Robert Abela’s offer of an ambassadorship in Geneva.
