Go forced to stop free data offer for streaming

GO is being forced to stop offering free data for select streaming services.

The internet service provider has long violated the principle of network neutrality.

What is ‘Network Neutrality’?

An ISP has to provide access to all content at the same speed and under the same conditions, without giving preference to any content.

The Malta Communications authority has now forced GO to terminate such offers from 1 October.

This follows three landmark rulings by the European Court of Justice in September 2021.
