Cassola reports Ira Losco’s political promo to standards commissioner

Arnold Cassola has asked standards commissioner Joe Azzopardi to investigate Ira Losco’s ‘Project Green’ posts promoting politicians

Ira Losco, one of Malta’s most popular singers, is using her personal social media platforms to promote politicians through a public contract, The Shift reported.

The singer has been contracted by Project Green to promote the new government agency’s projects in social media posts.

Losco’s posts do not clearly indicate that they are paid content, and also contain links to the personal pages of Environment Minister Miriam Dalli and Project Green CEO Steve Ellul.

Steve Ellul, a prospective MEP candidate, has been chosen by Dalli to run the agency and its €700 million budget.

Independent politician Arnold Cassola said Dalli and Ellul are using taxpayers’ money, and Losco’s children which is against the law, to promote their political interests.

Ira Losco told The Shift she did not really see anything wrong with this, and that she would take the newsroom’s observations into consideration.
