Not enough evening fast ferry trips for Gozitan workers

Gozitan workers are being left stranded in Valletta after work, the Association for the Gozitan Employees working in Malta criticised.

The current schedules offered by GozoFast and Virtu Ferries are not providing any trips from Valletta between 5 and 7pm.

The association said an average wait of two hours to catch the next available fast ferry to Gozo is unacceptable.

In a statement to the Times of Malta, a Virtu spokesperson said the company was trying to “fine tune the schedule to offer the best possible service while ensuring economic viability”.

Abelas pocketed €45k in property deal with suspected kidnapper

Prime Minister Robert Abela made a €45,000 profit in a suspicious Żabbar property deal involving alleged kidnapper Christian Borg.

In June 2018, then-MP Abela and his wife Lydia entered a contract to buy a green field from Bonnici Bros, the same day the Planning Authority granted Borg development permits.

However, on the day the PA permit was issued to Borg, he had no apparent connection to the property, the Times of Malta has revealed.

It was only a few moths later that the Abelas sold their stake to Christian Borg, making a profit of €45,000.

When asked to explain the suspicious timeline of the deal in a media conference on Monday morning, Abela called the Times’ report a “spin”.
