Abela wants police to stay on past 25 years of service

Prime Minister Robert Abela pledged financial incentives for members of disciplined forces not to retire after 25 years

Police officers, firefighters and soldiers are able to retire and start receiving a pension after 25 years of service.

Abela said that the measures, including fiscal incentives, would ensure that the accumulated experience of members of disciplined forces is not lost.

The government would be publishing more details “in the coming weeks”, the prime minister said on Sunday.
