1,062 persons were involved in non-fatal workplace accidents in the first half of the year

Only one workplace fatality in first half of 2023
The number of claims of non-fatal accidents at work decreased by 8.8 per cent when compared to the first half of 2022.
Figures published by the National Statistics Office also show a drop in workplace fatalities to only one between January and June.
In the corresponding period of 2022, nine fatal accidents at work were recorded.
14% of the accidents occurred in the manufacturing sector, followed by 13.5% in transportation and storage, 12.3% in human health and social work, and 10.4% in construction.
