OccupyJustice calls on AG to ‘pack bags’
“Pack your bags and leave”, OccupyJustice told Attorney General Victoria Buttigieg in a protest on Friday.
In the case against Yorgen Fenech’s lawyers, Buttigieg did not indicate the relevant type of attempted bribery.
Last Monday, court had to acquit the two lawyers of attempting to bribe a Times of Malta journalist.
On Saturday, ADPD said Parliament should remove Buttigieg and appoint someone who will not continue embarrassing the nation.
Adrian Delia disagrees on embryo testing
Adrian Delia said he does not agree with embryo testing that could endanger or be fatal to human life.
The Nationalist Party is set to vote with the government in favour of an amendment to the IVF law today.
Amending the IVF law will allow genetic tests on embryos for certain conditions prior to implantation.
Former PN leader Delia said he would vote according to his conscience.
Probe on direct orders to TEC Ltd requested
The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation has requested the National Audit Office to investigate direct orders to TEC Ltd.
On Saturday, The Shift News revealed that Transport Malta issued 20 direct orders for the Malta Metro event in October.
By splitting the questionably high €424,000 bill into 20 direct orders, Transport Malta avoided issuing a tender.
The Shift also reported that approval by the Finance Ministry was only obtained one month later.
In March, former Transport Minister Ian Borg made extensive use of TEC Ltd in his election campaign.
Interestingly, that did not break his legal spending limit as an election candidate.
Charles Polidano and son on police bail
Charles Polidano and his son Gordon have been released on police bail after their arrest on Friday.
Sources said Polidano is suspected of having corrupted a senior official at a large entity through a property sale.
The CEO of a transshipping company operating at the freeport has also been investigated in connection to Polidano.
Sources said Polidano won a contract in 2014 for which the cargo handling company may have overpaid.
The company’s CEO Alex Montebello and his wife were arrested on Friday, the Times of Malta reported.
