epic clients won’t be charged for calls and SMS to Ukraine
Telecommunication provider epic will be refunding clients for calls and SMS to Ukraine, as well as roaming services within the country, the company said in a statement on Sunday.
On Friday afternoon, Bonġu issued a call on epic, GO and Melita to immediately follow international telecommunication providers’ example and offer free calls and SMS from and to Ukraine, and free roaming within the country.
GO’s assistance focussed on roaming within Ukraine
In a statement to Bonġu on Sunday, GO said it is currently reviewing the situation and monitoring developments closely.
“In the meantime, GO has extended support to its customers currently roaming in Ukraine to ensure that they remain connected to their loved ones, by providing free credit depending on the customers’ subscription.”
The company said it will remain in touch with these customers to ensure their communication needs are fulfilled.
Melita helps out with free calls to Ukraine
On Monday, Melita announced efforts to keep customers in Malta connected with loved ones in Ukraine for free.
“Melita is reimbursing charges for calls to Ukraine for fixed and mobile telephone customers. Melita is contacting customers directly to inform them. The cost of calls made to Ukraine throughout February will be reimbursed in March”, a spokesperson said.
The company referred to similar action taken last September when Melita refunded the cost of calls to Afghanistan.
