Abela opens door for disgraced minister Justyne Caruana’s return
After similar comments about a possible Labour comeback of MP Rosianne Cutajar last week, Abela said on Monday he could say the same for Justyne Caruana.
Abela made these remarks during an interview with MediaToday owner Saviour Balzan in Xtra on TVM on Monday night.
Caruana resigned twice
In January 2020, Caruana resigned following reports about the relationship between her then husband, police assistant commissioner Silvio Valletta, and Yorgen Fenech.
She was reinstated as education minister in November 2020, but resigned a year later after the Standards Commissioner found that she had given her boyfriend Daniel Bogdanovic a €15,000 contract.
Decisions case-by-case
Abela said that a return of politicians to the Labour Party would be decided on a case-by-case basis.
He added that some kind of behaviour excluded one from politics for life, while other kinds of behaviour excluded politicians temporarily.
